What is 2025’s theme tune?

Investors have had a lot to take into account in their assessment of the geopolitical, economic and market environment in the first two months of 2025. On the economic side, we are seeing more signs of convergence in terms of the growth outlook and between the US and Europe in particular. As well as the significant uncertainties around global trade conditions. We argue in the attached Investors' Outlook that we see US implementation of significant and broad trade tariffs as a policy tool. In the meantime, Europe is preparing for significant additional fiscal spending, primarily in the defense sector but also in infrastructure, especially in Germany.
